Andrew Bryce – Chairperson
Andrew is married with two children and has worked at Engen for the past 29 years. He currently holds the position of General Manager of Finance. Andrew is a Chartered Accountant and has been on the Work4You Board of Trustees as Chairperson for 6 years, since 2012. Andrew’s son, Adam, is one of Work4You’s long standing members and is currently employed at a printing and packaging company for three days of the week. Andrew enjoys getting away to the bush with his family, and exploring the Western Cape and further afield on road trips, when time permits.
Andrew McKenzie – Marketing & Public Relations
Andrew joined the board in 2016 and is the father of Joel, one of Work4You’s team members. Andrew is a medical doctor with over 30 years experience in the public, NGO and private sectors in South Africa and across Africa. He is currently a partner in Health Partners International, a social enterprise based in the UK. He currently sits on two other boards – HPI Institute based in the USA and Health Information Systems Programme (HISP) based in South Africa. Andrew is a keen walker and reader and enjoys a glass of red wine and a good meal.
Hugh Fynn – Human Relations
Hugh is a qualified mediator and restorative justice practitioner and is engerised by people. Hugh taught in senior schools for 42 years, 21 of those at Bishops and 12 years as Head of St Joseph’s Marist College, where he helped found the Special Needs Unit in 2000. He serves on the Boards of four establishments: Work4You (since 2012), Salesians Institute Youth Projects, International School of Cape Town and Educore Services in Zambia, where he has been instrumental in establishing numerous schools across the country.
Roy Silver – Treasurer
Roy joined the board of Work4You in 2008 and is currently Treasurer. Roy is a Chartered Accountant and was the founder of Quest Personnel, an international recruitment company, with branches in South Africa, UK and Canada. He left Quest to move into the social impact space in 2000 and has focused on social enterprise and disability.
He co-authored the book “Successfully employing people with disabilities”. He was the National Coordinator of the African Social Entrepreneurs Network (ASEN). Roy has launched a successful mentorship programme for Cape Town Society for the Blind and is currently working on tech innovation that will improve the lives of people with disabilities.
Ruth Parker – Parent Representative
Ruth is the mother of Andrew, who is one of Work4You’s first members to be placed in employment. Ruth has been involved in the advocacy of inclusive education in schools; particularly in the mainstreaming of special needs learners into government schooling. Ruth is a conservation biologist with research knowledge of farmer conservation issues. Her book on renosterveld, a diminishing vegetation type, drew attention to conservation issues on farmland in the Western Cape. She has worked in research issues around climate change and is a keen hiker.
